MOF Symposium 9 - 10 April 2018, University of Southampton


After the success of the MOF symposia in 2016 and 2017, we are organising a two day symposium in 2018 to bring together the UK research community working on metal-organic frameworks and open framework compounds. We strongly encourage early stage researchers and PhD students to submit their abstracts for the symposium.

Joining instructions

The conference catering, registration, exhibition and posters will be held in building 40 (Garden Court) at the University of Southampton Highfield campus (entrance arrowed on the map below) and this is where you should come on arrival.

Talks will be held in lecture theatre A in the Shackleton building (number 44, circled on the map), which is a short walk through the University gardens.

Registration is open from 0900 on Monday 9thApril.

A lockable left-luggage store adjacent to the lecture theatre is available if needed.

Poster presenters

The available poster boards will support posters of the following size: A1 portrait or landscape; A0 portrait only.

Oral presenters

Contributed talks are scheduled for 20 mins, including questions. To ensure the smooth running of the conference, speakers are kindly asked to identify themselves to a member of the conference team in the break prior to their session to upload their presentations onto the lecture theatre computer and/or check laptop compatibility.

Venue and map

The UK MOF Symposium will take place at the Highfield Campus of the University of Southampton, Southampton, SO1 1BJ. A map of the campus can be downloaded here.

Highfield campus is served extremely well by the Unilink bus service ( , and can be reached by bus in approximately 20 mins from both Southampton Central railway station and Southampton Airport. Car parking on campus is extremely limited, but if you do intend to drive please contact us for further information.

Travel and accommodation

A range of hotels and can be found in and around Southampton. The closest hotel to Highfield campus is The Highfield House which is a 10-15 min walk away (

A range of hotels can also be found in the city centre (e.g. Premier Inn, Travelodge Central, Ibis etc) which are close to many bars and restaurants and the West Quay shopping centre. The campus is easily accessed from the city centre via the Unilink bus.
